MULTIPLIER | CHENEY TEAM
My understanding of Jesus and developing a relationship with Him dates back to further than I can remember, somewhere in between Sunday school and serving in church. But my decision to follow Christ came in High School when I attended a Young Life camp and was finally able to comprehend the free grace Christ had given me. Three years later I found myself in Cheney, WA attending Eastern Washington University. College was one of the most challenging seasons of my entire life, but I had an incredible gospel community and older women to mentor me that deeply impacted my walk with Christ through the highs and lows. It was my last day of a public relations internship my Sophomore year of college when I asked my manager, “Do you think I could do this job well?” She affirmed me and shared that I had done an incredible job all summer and asked,”...but what really matters is are you passionate about this job?” And that’s when I began to realize what I was really most passionate about and what God was calling me to; college ministry.
I’m often asked the question, what does it mean to be a multiplier? In my role, I get to “multiply” my life into women while they navigate one of the most challenging yet formative seasons of their lives. Daily, I meet and engage with students on campus at EWU to share the Gospel, develop deep and meaningful relationships, and model how to be a disciple of Christ. An aspect of my role is leading the Freshman Ministry Team; it is evident that Freshman year is a unique time in college that sets the tone for their next 4 years. I get to lead the team that meets them where they are at and meets them with the gospel!
My hope is to continue to see more lives transformed at EWU by the power of the Holy Spirit, for Christ’s light to shine bright in all corners of Cheney, and for disciples to be sent out of this tiny town. Cheney is small, but mighty. With 43% of the enrolled students being first generation college students, and most graduating to pursue jobs in nursing, teaching, and engineering, it is evident that Eastern’s campus is filled with driven, influential students. Not only is his an opportunity to reach Cheney with the gospel, but an opportunity to reach students that could take the great news of the gospel with them wherever they go after they graduate to further the Kingdom.
I’m encouraged daily by the people that God has graciously woven into my life to uplift me and support me in more ways than I ever thought possible. It’s because of faithful ministry partners that pray for me and financially support me that I am able to do the work that I believe God has called me to. It is a joy to invite brothers and sisters in Christ to partner with me and join in on what God is doing in Cheney and throughout our network at Resonate Church.
