Farewell to the Story Blog
By Hannah Lewandowski
Just shy of two years ago, Chelsy approached me, asking me to begin envisioning a blog where stories of God at work were shared. God was evidently at work, and for our staff team, we got to hear twenty minutes of stories across our fifteen campuses each Monday in our weekly meetings. But we couldn’t keep these stories to ourselves. God was calling us into remembrance, to amplify His glory, and thus the Stories of God at Work blog was born.
From interviewing the couple who founded Resonate years ago, to students and staff members, I received the unique gift of hearing about the movement of God in cities big and small throughout the nation, and even beyond in some cases.
God is always at work, “for the old has passed away and the new has come”, but how often do we miss that (2 Corinthians 5:17)? Between school, work, our phone addictions, new TV series, and overfilled Google calendars, our minds are overcome with everything but the movement of God. From confessing the same sin over and over to going through the motions of discipleship, it is much easier than you think to not be present, to grow weary or even numb and apathetic to the movement of God that is before your very eyes.
Psalm 143:5-6 David declares that he will “remember the days of old; I will meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands. I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land”. Do you not see it? Our wandering hearts crave a home; we long for eternal union with our Creator. And the medicine for our yearning souls is remembrance. Fill your minds with the things above, and ponder the work of His hands. Dwell in His presence. An inability to see God at work isn’t an excuse; it's deception. He is doing something in you and through you, can you see it?
Our wandering hearts crave a home; we long for eternal union with our Creator. And the medicine for our yearning souls is remembrance. Fill your minds with the things above, and ponder the work of His hands. Dwell in His presence.
Our wonder-working God is the only one truly worthy of meditating on, of receiving glory. His deeds must be amplified, His name must be shared in every corner of this Earth. And, just because this very blog will be no more, witnessing to His glory will continue. It has to.
From here on out, you can find stories of God at work on our social media platforms, from short videos to detailed scroll posts; you won’t be missing out on God at work. You will also continue to have access to the Story Blog on our website. So tomorrow on Thanksgiving, and for the rest of time, may you recount the works of His hands. May you grow in both awe and reverence of the one true God. And may you enjoy Him forever.
Resonate, our hearts are prone to wander. In a world of loud voices competing for our attention and affection, may we be a people who choose to remember. Would the remembrance of our Heavenly Father, His endless love, and the person of Jesus, dying on our behalf, and giving us new life, bring us to the foot of the Cross, the feet of the One we belong to. As we remember, may we be conformed into the likeness of our Creator, freed, redeemed, and washed clean. And may that be enough for you.
