Matthew 28:16-20, Romans 10:14-17, Isaiah 52:7
All members of the body of Christ have different strengths and weaknesses as it relates to spiritual gifts. That could be the gift of teaching the word, or knowing just what people need and shepherding them towards Christ, or telling people of who Christ is in evangelism.
The great commission is clear however, no matter what your strengths are, you are called to go make disciples and teach them what Jesus taught. Now this command includes all spiritual gifts coming together to see lost people put their faith in Christ. This usually starts with evangelism.
Taking a look at Romans 10. How will they know Christ if they have not heard of him? Who is going to tell them? How can we tell all people if we do not go to them? Therefore we must go, we must tell people of Christ. “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news.”
No matter what your spiritual strengths are, the Lord commands you to participate in evangelism and the bringing of His good news to all people. The Lord also gave us the Holy Spirit so that we would be empowered in sharing the gospel. Know you are empowered by the Spirit of God and step obediently into boldness.
Church, how can you participate in this at the individual level? How can you be someone who brings the good news? Let us pray that we, the body of Christ, would be sent and be evangelists, telling all of the good news of Christ Jesus.
