We often think of "sin" as just doing something bad, but the Bible describes it as our tendency to live apart from the way God designed life to work. Romans 3:23 says that everyone falls short of God's standard. Not just some people, but all of us. Whether or not you have put your faith in Christ, you’ve probably felt the weight of brokenness in the world or even within yourself. This verse invites us to be honest about that. Before we can truly understand what grace and hope look like, we have to be willing to admit that we need them.

Read Romans 3:23 (ESV)

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Reflection:

  1. In what ways have I personally seen the effects of sin in my life and the world around me?

  2. If God is loving, why does He allow sin to exist?
