Matthew 21:12-17, Mark 11:15-19, Luke 19:45-48, John 2:13-22

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8).

Jesus didn’t come to earth to only speak gentle and comforting words to people. He came to set things straight. Including ridding His Father’s house of the corruption that was taking over the temple.

In today’s society, we have a skewed version of justice. It is often defined by the feeling of rightness, instead of the objective truth from God. This goes one of two ways: we either try to die on every hill and see everything as a cause for justice, or we are too timid to see everything as “not that bad”.

Jesus knew when to speak gently and when to kick people out of the temple. We too should live a life with the ability to do justice and to also show kindness. Meaning, we have a life filled with kindness, and we do the right thing. Not the thing that feels good, but the thing that God has declared is good, right, and His will (Romans 12:2).
